Case Study: "TheLorry Driver App": Your Ultimate Road Companion

Introduction

TheLorry is a leading technology-empowered logistics platform in South-East Asia offering a comprehensive and integrated marketplace model. The partners (a.k.a drivers) are the great assets of the company in order to achieve a greater good. Hence, a systematic app for driver to navigate

My Role

I oversaw designing, product and data analysis and planning, gathering feedback from partners and stakeholders, I came out with flow, wireframe and UI for partners

Problem Statement

The current process for managing moving services lacks efficiency and real-time tracking, leading to challenges in monitoring and ensuring the punctuality and performance of movers. Companies struggle to have clear visibility into the status of ongoing jobs and face difficulties in effectively coordinating with movers and providing timely updates to customers. This lack of transparency and coordination hinders operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall business growth.

Goal

To develop a comprehensive mover app for TheLorry Online that enables efficient coordination, real-time job status updates, and performance tracking for movers and companies. The app aims to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and enable data-driven decision-making for companies. By achieving these objectives, the app seeks to streamline the moving service process, increase transparency, and improve overall business performance.

User Interface Design

Login Screen
Designing dark background as partner will always be on the road, hence I designed it in dark so that it can save up battery power for the mobile. A standard login and TheLorry Helpline to call, TheLorry provide customer care that fulfil the needs of drivers.

To effectively present important information to partners, focus on key elements such as upcoming jobs, credit balances, job summaries (showing past job data), and footers. Ensure easy navigation through the app for partners to perform tasks, check their job summaries, earnings, and manage their accounts.

Assigning Job

When a customer orders a moving service, partners accept and assign it to drivers, selecting suitable vehicles for the job. I designed a swipe feature for managers to easily view and select drivers. By sliding up the footer, managers can access job details and choose the most suitable driver for the task.

The driver's navigation plays a crucial role, enabling real-time tracking for efficient service. The company keeps data for studying punctuality and professionalism. Customers can also track the driver's location and their own location for convenience.

Key Component

  1. Job management and allocation: Implement a centralized platform where companies can assign jobs to available movers based on their expertise, availability, and location. Enable companies to view job details, customer requirements, and schedules, ensuring efficient allocation and coordination.

  2. Real-time job status updates: Enable movers to update job statuses in real-time through the app. Users should be able to view the progress of their jobs, including the arrival of movers, loading of items onto trucks, and estimated delivery times. This feature improves transparency, reduces miscommunication, and enhances customer satisfaction.

  3. Performance and punctuality tracking: Integrate performance tracking mechanisms to record and evaluate the performance of individual movers. Collect data on punctuality, job completion rates, customer ratings, and feedback to assess and incentivize top-performing movers. This component facilitates data-driven decision-making and allows companies to identify areas for improvement.

  4. Seamless communication channels: Implement chat or messaging features within the app to enable smooth communication between movers, companies, and customers. Facilitate timely updates, address queries or concerns, and enhance collaboration throughout the moving service process.

  5. GPS tracking and mapping: Incorporate GPS tracking functionality to allow companies and customers to monitor the real-time location of movers. Provide live maps and estimated arrival times to improve customer experience, enhance trust, and ensure efficient routing for movers.

  6. Customer updates and notifications: Enable automatic notifications and updates to keep customers informed about the status of their jobs. Send alerts when movers are en route, items are loaded onto trucks, or unexpected delays occur, ensuring transparency and managing customer expectations.

  7. Performance analytics and reporting: Develop comprehensive analytics and reporting features to provide companies with insights into mover performance, job completion rates, customer satisfaction levels, and overall operational efficiency. Generate reports and visualizations to facilitate data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

  8. User-friendly interface and accessibility: Design an intuitive and user-friendly interface that caters to

Conclusion

In conclusion, my first UI/UX project at TheLorry has been an invaluable learning experience. From understanding the user journey to creating user flows, wireframing, and developing the user interface, I had the opportunity to contribute to the project's success. Conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) was particularly enlightening, providing me with valuable insights. This project has set a solid foundation and milestone for my future endeavors, paving the way for continued growth in the field of UI/UX.
